Something To Read

It’s That Time of Year…Gift Giving Traditions

The Holiday Season is upon us.  We celebrate Christmas as a time to give and be with family.  Once upon a time we went all out.  We found things second hand and gave gave gave.  We learned quickly that our kids really wanted few things and so over the years we narrowed our gift giving traditions to the following mantra:

  • something they want
  • something they need
  • something to wear
  • something to read

Now did we go overboard on the books?  I mean, yes.  But you can never have too many books!

When the kids were younger Santa brought a smaller gift and they got bigger gifts from us.  And always books.  We wanted to nurture the sense of wonder and also giving and empathy.

Now that the kids are older, Santa brings stocking stuffers and then we spend a morning of unwrapping their 4 gifts (and the ones they get each other and gifts from the grands.)   It’s nice.  It’s not overwhelming.  There are no longer meltdowns.

Even if you are unsure as to what your child likes in terms of books, we can help!  Heck, it’s hard to buy books for our own kids.  But we try.  I believe it shows thoughtfulness when you put yourself on the line to buy a book that you may not be 100% sure is the right fit.  Your kid like video games?  We have a book for that.  Your kid likes unicorns, princesses, and soccer?  We have a books for that.  You have a parent that likes biographies?  We have a book for that.  A teen that like classics?  Yup, that too!  Often we can pull a few books that might be of interest for you to choose from!  We are happy to help!

And really, books fit in ALMOST all the categories!  So we have  you covered!  As for the something to wear?  Well, we have that too.  They are online, but you have t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and tanks!  So really, it’s a one stop shop!

We hope that however you are celebrating you are with people that love you and that your Holidays are restful and peaceful!  Stop by the shop, or shop online, we’ll help you have a little less stressful Holiday Season! Hey, tell us about your gift giving traditions in the comments.
